Think about the busiest moment
Average use rarely causes problems. Your connection is tested when many things happen at once: a team call, a large upload, a cloud backup, and everyone returning from lunch.
So picture your busiest hour, and count what is happening at the same time.
Upload matters too
Most people think about download first. Video calls, cloud backups, large file transfers, and security cameras all send data out as well. If your connection feels slow during calls, upload capacity is worth checking.
What to list
How many people are on site at peak?
How many are on video or voice calls at once?
Which cloud tools does the team use all day?
Do cameras or other devices upload around the clock?
Do you run backups or large transfers during work hours?
Leave room to grow
Add what you expect over the next year or two, such as new staff or more connected equipment. Then share this list with your provider. It is far more useful than asking for the fastest option, and it may show you do not need it.
