They are not the same thing
Your internet is the service coming into the building. Wi-Fi is how your devices reach it once it is inside. When something feels slow, the fix depends on which one is struggling.
Three quick checks
1. Try a wired connection
Plug a laptop directly into your network with a cable, if you can. If it is fast on the cable and slow on Wi-Fi, the internet service is probably fine.
2. Move around
Test from a few spots. If it is only poor in one area, that points to Wi-Fi coverage. Thick walls, long distances, and metal fixtures are all common causes.
3. Compare devices and times
If one laptop is slow and the others are fine, look at that laptop. If everyone slows down at the same time each day, you may be hitting your capacity limit.
What to tell support
Which location and area are affected
When it started, and whether it comes and goes
What the wired and Wi-Fi tests showed
How many people or devices are affected
Those details can shorten the conversation considerably and help get the right fix sooner.
